VALIDATION WORKSHOP Needs Assessment of New and Innovative Solutions for Increasing Productivity in Agriculture

The Validation Workshop on needs assessments of new and innovative solutions for increasing productivity in agriculture took place today within the framework of the USAID financed AGRI CAMP Program implemented by ICARE Foundation. The purpose of this Assessment is to explore the current challenges and gaps in the agricultural sector of Armenia, reveal the needs of women in ensuring better access to agricultural innovations and highlight the application of new context-relevant technologies and innovations to increase growth in agricultural productivity with a focus on female entrepreneurs and farmers. Representatives of Government of Armenia, USAID, international and local organizations, agricultural sector experts, farmers, and women agripreneurs participated in the workshop.
“Such studies are very important for the development of precise agriculture,” – the RA Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan said. Mr. Khojoyan underlined the importance of «synergetic» development of IT and agriculture. Arthur Grigoryan, Director of ICARE, stressed the importance of women’s access to innovation in the agricultural sector. Lusine Tadevosyan, Chief of Party of the AGRI CAMP, introduced the goal, objectives and expected results of the Program. Hasmik Altunyan, the AGRI CAMP Senior Researcher, presented the results of the Assessment conducted within the time period of February-June, 2021․
The Needs Assessments of New and Innovative Solutions for Increasing Productivity in Agriculture was conducted under the AGRI CAMP Program Objective 4: Increasing women’s access to agricultural innovation. Within this objective, the Program will address the economic gender gap by increasing access to innovative solutions and technology for women in the agricultural sector to raise productivity and promote inclusive rural economic development in Armenia. It will support the invention, adaptation, and dissemination of new context-relevant technologies to increase growth in agricultural productivity with a focus on female entrepreneurs and employees.
